To be honest i was expecting more from breeze, this is partly why i started the thread, to see is there is something i'm missing when listening and comparing these reverbs. Great for a certain atmosphere and mood, but not as good as a bread and butter transparent reverb, I think.Įach to his own of course, but this is my experience.Ģc audio's breeze is sort of the ezdrummer of the 2Caudio family from what i've read, i didn't even consider aether as $150.00 is as much as i'd spend atm. Really it's a snapshot of a particular volume sound in a set space. Modern ones are amazing.Ĭonvolution is fine but good convolution needs big CPU, as it needs layers of sample impulses taken at different volumes. I prefer the tweakability, low latency and low CPU of algorythmic reverbs. For simplicity Eos (Audio Damage) mixes really well into the mix. The new Lexicons are good, but expensive. There's something else to consider, getting a good plate as well. I think the only reverb i have that has a plate mode is Epicverb, but this test was using all the room settings. I think it rather has to be used carefully. Same Reaverb.Īnd than, naturally, there's the incredible UAD EMT 140, mighty and powerful, but a pure plate reverb anyway. But I always found it difficult to set up in order to sound properly. I liked Ambience, too, when I strated mixing. I like the TC M30 for one preset: the guitar room. But I think I can tell a difference when it sits in a mix. Me too, I rarely hear differences when just putting a reverb onto a single track. Hmmm, i'll have to listen closer to the tails to see if i can pick valhalla as being thicker. I forgot about the TC M30, it is sitting here in a folder waiting to be re-installed.I also notice that the native Reaper Reverb's hardly ever get a ton of praise. Ambiance, GlacVerb, Breverb, and even SIR, tho part of my keeper collection, thin out quickly when EQ'd to my ear. Valhalla & Wizoo are the ONLY two that I can hear a difference between in my mixes, even after EQing them. There is a "depth" or "thickness" to the tails that stay there. I also can not tell that major of a difference between a bunch of verbs. Yeah, i actually have these already and i do like them but i should have been more specific, algorythmic reverbs are where i,m looking atm. Loaded into Reaverb.I'm hopeless at choosing reverb.I'm no sound engineer, but I seem to be getting decent results with these impulses.Give em a go sure.they're free!Įdit.I'm generally only interested in plates Ithink.and these sound really nice and shimmery.

I've been going mad trying reverbs lately. The one I have settled on is these
#2CAUDIO AETHER REVIEW HOW TO#
So is there something i'm missing, are my ears just not trained for what to listen for or are my reverbs perfectly OK and i just need to get on with learning how to use them properly ? I also thought the TC M30 and CSR Hall were so close to Valhalla & Breeze that in a mix (I) probably ( almost certainly ) couldn't tell them apart. Out of my reverbs the TC M30, CSR room, Epicverb & oldschool seemed slightly better than Ambience, Glaceverb & Modernspacer, but not to the point where i'd ditch them from my vst folder. What really surprised me was that none of these really stood out as being streets ahead of the other, although some worked better on the guitar than the vocals and vice versa. I ran some acoustic guitar and vocals through them as acoustic instruments are primarily what i work with.
#2CAUDIO AETHER REVIEW FREE#
Last week i got a demo of breeze and ( valhalla room i already had ) and lined them up against my free reverbs, Epicverb, TC M30, Ambience, oldschool verb, glaceverb, modern spacer, and i have IK's CSR ( Hall ONLY! ) which i got as part of a group buy a year or so back. I've heard great things about Valhalla Room and 2caudio's Breeze & aether, redline, eos and others and of course the lexicon's but they are just way out of my price range. That should make getting the mix i want that much easier, but now i'm not so sure. This includes self promotion of music. For a long time now i've been thinking, "what i really need is a good reverb" If you are looking for feedback on your own music please post it to /r/abletonfeedback/.
